Subject: HB 3016 OHV use on designated county roads

Published on 1/31/2008
Subject: HB 3016
Date: Wed, 30 Jan 2008 07:51:24 -0800

A bill was enacted in the last year year or two to enable county and city governments (under 3000) to allow OHV use on designated county roads and city streets. Rep. Joel Kretz and others introduced HB 3016 this year to remove the 3000 population limit on cities. This would allow cities like Colville to designate routes to gas, food, and lodging. If OHVs continue their work, they could ride from Montana to Yakima on deginated routes.
THIS COULD EASILY BE ADAPTED TO THE SNOWMOBILE COMMUNITY !!!
At the House Transportation Committe Hearing Monday, the Sierra Club and others including local
anti-motorized groups from Ferry County were in force to object to this bill.
Since this could effect snowmobiling, in the not too distant future, I am asking WSSA to suuport this legislation.
Actions taken by State and local governmments have a large impact on the decisions of the USFS.
